Welcome to our new Coach Development site. The MYBI Board is excited to provide additional tools for our coaches at all levels. These tools include additional coaching clinics, including one provided by Coach Hardgrove and his staff on April 14th, free access to www.webball.com, lists of skills and drills for various aspects of the game and materials to increase the effectiveness of practice planning.
Our goal is to provide each of you with tools to become better coaches to help each player in the Mahtomedi baseball program to have fun and to develop into the best player possible. We have increased our focus on fundamental throwing and hitting skills and drills.
It is our belief that if our practice sessions are well-organized, upbeat, positive and are run at a high tempo, the kids will enjoy the experience more and will be more fundamentally sound by the end of the season. Gary Noel (firstnoelcrew@comcast.net) has been assigned to develop the coaching material.
Please let Gary or any of the other board members know what you think of our approach.
Also, if you have any suggestions for further improvement of our coaching development program, please let us know. We are interested in your feedback. We are looking forward to working together with each one of you this year. Have a great season. MAHTOMEDI YOUTH BASEBALL INC. Coaching Development _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ideas and tips for a Successful Season (Forward additional suggestions that have helped you in the past.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skills and Drills These PowerPoint presentations can get you started in organizing your practices ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Practice Organization Documents These documents provide additional practice ideas and drills for all levels. Practice Planner.pdf offers a higher level list of skills and drills. Take a look at the thoughts about why the authors of PracticePlanner.pdf do not recommend "Situational Defensive Baseball Practice" on p.10. Instead, they recommend focusing on situational drills. There are also some good guidelines for pitch counts for various ages on p. 16. Baseball Drills and Practice Plans.pdf offers some simpler drills for younger ages and some different practice plans.
